063F1 Glenary H'cap H'dleThe Raceday Stewards requested a report from Anthony McCann, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Silent Guardian (GB), placed first, as compared with its recent form. Anthony McCann stated that his charge settled better today and this may have contributed to the improvement in form. Having considered the report the Raceday Stewards noted the explanation given.
R. Deegan, rider of Ballinaboola Gold, trained by R.Donohoe, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was badly hampered after the first bend.
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident after the first bend involving Silent Guardian (GB), ridden by C. Brassil, and Ballinaboola Gold, ridden by R. Deegan, where it appeared Ballinaboola Gold ran short of room and had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. C. Brassil stated that he was unaware of the horse on his inside and he pulled out when he heard a shout. R. Deegan stated that he was on the rail and received pressure from his outside causing him to check. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found C. Brassil was in breach of Rule 214, in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his record in this regard (first offence) the Raceday Stewards suspended C. Brassil for two racedays.
063F2 Glenary H'cap H'dleThe Raceday Stewards enquired into the circumstances whereby Ossifer Hops, ridden by E.M. O'Sullivan, did not jump the second last but proceed to jump the last hurdle. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he was carried out at the second last and when he came back to the racing line after the second last he was not sure what to do then as he was worried about interfering with the other runners. Evidence was also heard from the IHRB Judge who stated that he marked Ossifer Hops down as being carried out at the second last. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that E. M O'Sullivan was in breach of Rule 215(i) and having considered his record in this regard the Raceday Stewards suspended E. M. O'Sullivan for two racedays. Furthermore the Raceday Stewards confirmed the Judge's recording of Ossifer Hops as being carried out.
R.J. Condon, rider of Dark Lieutenant, trained by P.A.Fahy, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was hampered at the second last hurdle.
The Raceday Stewards reviewed the fall on the flat of Qaasid, ridden by D. E. Mullins, who brought down Ballyredinkingston and Opposite Ends on the approach to the second last hurdle. Having considered the matter and viewed a recording of the race, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that Qaasid slipped up independently of any other runner and they were satisfied that no further action was warranted .
